Introduction: Conor Herterich, Preservation Texas

Dr. Perky Beisel is a professor and co-director of the public history program in the History Department at Stephen F. Austin State University. Her research interests include local history, historic preservation, cemeteries, stable architecture, and agricultural history. Beisel serves on the board of several non-profits and public boards, including the Nacogdoches County Historical Commission, the Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc., and is current vice president of the International Association for Gravestone Studies.
